Pendo alternatives: 10 digital adoption platform tools compared
People look for a Pendo alternative when a product bought for in-app guidance is priced by monthly active users and only quoted after a sales call. Pendo publishes no paid prices, and several features sit in add-ons on its lower tiers. Buyers move to tools with a published price, to a cheaper guidance-only product, or to enterprise vendors priced by application.
Short answer: The first three alternatives to Pendo in our digital adoption platform ranking are Userpilot, Product Fruits and UserGuiding. Places 1 to 3 go to challengers, vendors outside the best-known brands in a category, wherever the category has them; the established names follow from place 4 in their ranked order. Choose Userpilot if you want analytics and guides together but with a published price instead of a sales conversation. All 10 alternatives below are ranked products from Best Digital Adoption Platform Software in 2026, and each says where it differs from Pendo.

01
Why buyers look past Pendo
01
Paid plans are quoted, volume is the lever
Pendo's pricing page shows Base, Core and Ultimate with a Request pricing button and a custom MAU volume, and no amounts. Its FAQ says the price rises with monthly active users while the cost per user falls. A team cannot compare it with Product Fruits, UserGuiding, Userpilot or Chameleon, which print amounts.
02
Extras sit in add-ons below the top tier
In the comparison table, session replay is an add-on on Base, and sentiment surveys and journey orchestration are add-ons on Base and Core. Product discovery is an add-on on Base and Core. Pendo says there are no gated features once you buy a module, but the module you need may sit one tier higher.
03
The free plan stops at 500 users
Pendo Free covers analytics, in-app guides, Pendo-branded roadmaps and NPS surveys for up to 500 monthly active users. Over that limit you can no longer create new guides, NPS surveys or segments until you upgrade. Growing products leave the free plan quickly and then enter the quote process.
Start, Grow and Enterprise tiers by MAU, installations and published experiences, quoted on request; Spark plan for teams of 25 or fewer published at $3,600/year for 1,000 MAU plus a $250 setup fee
Boston-based onboarding platform with MAU-tiered plans and a published small-team plan
you want a vendor that includes implementation help and can start from a fixed small-team price
Not published; per-user subscription in Foundation, Scale and Enterprise tiers (100 to 25,000+ user tokens), or an OEM licence, all quoted on request
Turin-based “User Enablement Platform”, explicitly marketed as founded in the EU
you must host the guidance layer on your own servers or inside a private cloud

Germany · Quoted on request; fixed annual fee per application, or usage-based across unlimited applications
A Munich company that sells guidance for employee and customer software. Pricing is quoted per application (a fixed annual fee with unlimited users) or consumption-based across unlimited applications. Application Intelligence and Contextual Assistance come in every plan. It prices by software portfolio, not by monthly active users.
Switch from Pendo if you roll out a few internal or partner applications and want a fixed fee per application.
France · Quoted on request; typical rollout around six weeks per the vendor
A Paris company that sells an application licence (priced by application type and user count) or a corporate licence for unlimited applications (priced by total users), both quoted. AI usage is billed on consumption and onboarding is a paid service. It states 6 weeks as the average rollout and supports web, desktop and on-premise apps.
Switch from Pendo if you want guidance on enterprise applications such as Salesforce or SAP and a price that follows total users.
India · Quoted: flat fee plus user licences; free trial offered
Pricing is a flat fee per product and plan plus user licences. Employee-facing applications count every user with access, customer-facing ones count monthly active users. The pricing page lists Standard, Premium and Enterprise plans, offers a free trial and sells Product Analytics Premium on its own. The operating company is registered in Bengaluru, India.
Switch from Pendo if you guide employees in several business applications and accept a quote with a licence count.
United States · Quoted; two packages, for employees and for customers
Sold through a quote in two packages, WalkMe for employees and WalkMe for customers. Its own blog says SAP acquired the company in 2024. It is the heaviest option in this list: authoring, analytics, workflow automation and AI assistance sit in one enterprise contract, and no price is published.
Switch from Pendo if your adoption programme sits inside an SAP-centred enterprise and procurement prefers one large vendor.
Italy · Not published; per-user subscription in Foundation, Scale and Enterprise tiers (100 to 25,000+ user tokens), or an OEM licence, all quoted on request
A Turin company with a registered address in Italy. All tiers are quoted by user tokens: Foundation 100 to 500, Scale 500 to 5,000, Enterprise 5,000 to 25,000 or more, all with unlimited applications and editors. Scale adds fully on-premise deployment, which Pendo's pricing page does not mention.
Switch from Pendo if you must host the guidance layer on your own servers or inside a private cloud.
Pendo remains the right choice when you want analytics and in-app guides priced as one MAU number across any number of applications, and when you want to start on the Free plan with up to 500 users and a 30-day trial of the full platform. Its pricing page says an overage on a paid plan does not interrupt service, and it states SOC 2, GDPR and HIPAA compliance. The cost is a quote you cannot see in advance, and add-ons on the lower paid tiers.

What moving off Pendo involves
01
Count users the way the new vendor does
Pendo counts unique visitors active in the last 30 days and ignores how many applications you track. Chameleon counts monthly tracked users, Userlane charges per application, Whatfix counts all users with access for employee applications. The same product can land at very different prices, so ask each vendor for a figure based on your own count.
02
Your analytics history stays behind
Pendo advertises retroactive analytics, access to your complete data history from the day you install. Not every replacement keeps your history in one place. Export what you need before you cancel and ask each vendor whether analytics is part of the plan you are pricing.
03
Rebuild the guides, do not expect a copy
Each vendor has its own editor and snippet. Expect to recreate tours, checklists and surveys by hand. Several vendors publish limits that make this a planning task, for example 15 active tours on Product Fruits Starter and 10 published experiences on Appcues Start.

Questions about replacing Pendo

Is there a free Pendo plan?
Yes. Pendo Free includes product analytics, in-app guides, Pendo-branded roadmaps and NPS surveys for up to 500 monthly active users. There is also a 30-day trial of the full platform, arranged through sales.
Which Pendo alternative publishes its prices?
Product Fruits, UserGuiding, Userpilot and Chameleon print plan prices. Appcues prints a price only for its Spark plan, and Whatfix, WalkMe, Userlane, Lemon Learning and Newired quote.

Newired lists a fully on-premise deployment option on its Scale tier and private hosting on Foundation. We did not find an on-premise option stated on the other vendors' pricing pages.
