FullStory alternatives: 11 heatmap and session replay tools compared
Teams look for a Fullstory alternative when the free plan stops being enough and the next step is a sales call with no published price. Some want replay and heatmaps for a lower, visible fee, some want product analytics bundled with replay, and some want to host the data themselves. They move to PostHog, LogRocket, Contentsquare or a lighter replay tool.
Short answer: The first three alternatives to FullStory in our heatmap and session replay tool ranking are PostHog, LogRocket and Contentsquare. Places 1 to 3 go to challengers, vendors outside the best-known brands in a category, wherever the category has them; the established names follow from place 4 in their ranked order. Choose PostHog if you want replay and analytics in one place and prefer usage billing you can cap. All 11 alternatives below are ranked products from Best Heatmap and Session Replay Tools in 2026, and each says where it differs from FullStory.
Vendors can pay for visibility on this site; it never changes what we say
about a product. How that works.
Pricing: Free plan of 30,000 sessions a month; Business, Advanced and Enterprise by quote
Established in: United States
Built for: Product teams that outgrow a free tier and want deeper analytics
Not for: Buyers who need a published price list before talking to sales
01
Why buyers look past FullStory
01
Every paid tier starts with a quote
Fullstory's plans page lists Business, Advanced and Enterprise, and each one is reached through a Request pricing and demo button. No amount is shown for any of them. A buyer comparing three vendors in a spreadsheet cannot fill in Fullstory's cell until a sales conversation has happened.
02
The free plan is a trial of the product, not a working tier
FullstoryFree gives 30,000 sessions a month, 12 months of retention and up to 10 users, with session replay and basic analytics. Fullstory's own FAQ says Dashboards and StoryAI need a paid plan. A team that wants charts for stakeholders, not only replays, hits the quote step quickly.
03
Mobile, surveys and multi-account control cost extra
Guides and Surveys, Mobile Analytics, Multi-Org Management, StoryAI and an Advantage Subscription are listed as plan add-ons, separate from the three plans. A company that needs a native app view, in-product surveys or several accounts under one login should expect more than one line on the invoice.
Free plan of 2,500 sessions a month; paid plans monthly or yearly; Enterprise quoted
Veteran replay tool with a free plan that has no time limit
you want a long-running, simple recorder with a free plan and no contract

What each one does differently

PostHog
United States · Free tier each month including 5,000 recordings; usage billing once a card is added
Product analytics, feature flags and session replay in one account, with a monthly free allowance that includes 5,000 recordings and 1M analytics events. Past that it bills usage after a card is added, with billing limits you set. Its core repository is MIT licensed. Replay is one product among many, not the focus.
Switch from FullStory if you want replay and analytics in one place and prefer usage billing you can cap.
United States · Session-based pricing published from a calculator; trial without a card; Enterprise quoted
Aimed at engineers who debug user issues: session replay with unlimited analytics events, error events and logs on every plan, priced by sessions captured on a calculator. Pro adds AI summaries and Enterprise offers a self-hosted deployment. It leans on error context, not on marketing heatmap reading.
Switch from FullStory if engineers, not marketers, own the tool and you need errors tied to replays.
France · Free tier to 200,000 sessions; Growth published by session band; Pro and Enterprise quoted
The enterprise experience-analytics platform, with a free plan of up to 200,000 monthly sessions, one project and one month of data access. On the free plan only 5% of sessions are captured as replays, capped at 10,000. Growth starts at $39 a month; Pro and Enterprise are custom.
Switch from FullStory if you want a large vendor with a published entry price and a free plan to test.
France · Self-hosted edition at no licence cost; managed Dedicated instance billed hourly; 7-day trial
Session replay, product analytics, co-browsing and DevTools that you can run on your own servers, or have the vendor run as a Dedicated instance from $199 a month billed hourly. Most of the repository is AGPL v3, with some MIT parts. Self-hosting means you maintain it.
Switch from FullStory if recordings must stay on infrastructure you control and you can operate it.
United States · Free plan to 10,000 sessions; Growth estimated after install; higher tiers quoted
Product analytics with automatic event capture. The free plan covers 10,000 monthly sessions; Growth is estimated after you install a snippet, and Pro and Premier are custom. Session Replay is listed as an add-on on Pro and Premier. Heap is now part of Contentsquare, so check roadmap plans with its sales team.
Switch from FullStory if autocaptured events and funnels matter more to you than watching replays.
Denmark · Free plan up to 500 sessions a month; four paid tiers published; 14-day trial
Replay, heatmaps, funnels and form analytics from a Danish company, ApS, with data processed in a Copenhagen office and an EU data centre. Free is 500 sessions a month, then 5,000, 25,000 and 100,000 on paid tiers, all with unlimited users. A 14-day trial needs no card. There is no product analytics layer.
Switch from FullStory if you want a plain session-volume plan and EU processing with a free entry level.
United States · Free of charge with no traffic cap
Free of charge, and Microsoft's FAQ says there are no traffic limits or forced upgrades. It offers session recordings, heatmaps and AI summaries. EU customers contract with Microsoft Ireland Operations Limited. It has no paid tier to buy support or extra controls, so you cannot pay to change terms.
Switch from FullStory if cost is the main reason you are leaving and replay plus heatmaps will do.
United States · Four published plans by session volume; every feature on every plan; 7-day trial
Every feature is on every plan, and plans scale only by monthly sessions: 3,500 on Build, 10,000 on Grow, from 50,000 on Expand and from 300,000 on Scale. It adds live chat and surveys, and each extra website is $5. Discovery AI is a paid add-on in the comparison table, though it is included during the 7-day trial.
Switch from FullStory if you run a small or mid-size site and want one price scale based on sessions.
Not stated by the vendor · Four tiers published, billed annually; 30-day trial; no overage charges
Pageview-based plans, billed annually: Starter at $29 a month tracks 5,000 pageviews and 50 recordings, while Enterprise at $599 tracks 1,000,000 pageviews and 10,000 recordings. It never charges overages, but collection pauses at the limit. A 30-day trial applies and A/B testing arrives from Plus.
Switch from FullStory if you test landing pages and want a hard cap on spend rather than a surprise bill.
Ukraine · Free plan with daily limits; paid tiers published monthly or yearly; 14-day trial
A conversion toolkit that bundles heatmaps, session replay, SEO audits, pop-ups, A/B testing and error monitoring. Its free plan allows 500 video sessions and one month of storage; paid packages start at 5,000 sessions. It covers more marketing jobs than Fullstory but has no product analytics suite.
Switch from FullStory if you want one small-business tool for replay, SEO checks and pop-ups.
United States · Free plan of 2,500 sessions a month; paid plans monthly or yearly; Enterprise quoted
A lean replay, heatmap, form analytics and A/B testing product. The free plan gives 2,500 recorded sessions a month across three websites with one month of retention, and recording stops when the monthly limit is reached. Enterprise holds 24 months. We could not read its paid plan prices.
Switch from FullStory if you want a long-running, simple recorder with a free plan and no contract.
Fullstory remains a sound choice when product, support and marketing teams all work from one behavioural dataset. Its plans list user segmentation, funnels, retention analysis, journeys, data export and an API on one platform, and the free plan lets a team of ten test replay for 12 months of data. Leave only if the quote step, the add-ons or the price of Advanced no longer fit your volume.

What moving off FullStory involves
01
Check what leaves with you
Fullstory lists Data Export among its Business-plan features and a warehouse integration as a separate Anywhere product. Ask for your session history in a form you can keep before cancelling, because replays viewed inside another vendor's player will not carry over by default. Plan on starting a fresh history at the new tool.
02
Run both tools in parallel for one billing cycle
Install the replacement beside Fullstory and compare the same pages and funnels. Counting differs between vendors: Fullstory bills sessions, Crazy Egg bills pageviews, LogRocket bills captured sessions and PostHog bills recordings. A fair test uses the same week of traffic for each tool.
03
Re-create the segments and alerts you rely on
Saved segments, dashboards, Segment Alerts and Metric Alerts are tied to Fullstory's data model and will not import elsewhere. List the ten you open weekly, rebuild only those, and check privacy masking and consent rules in the new tool before real traffic reaches it.

Questions about replacing FullStory
6 answers
Does Fullstory have a free plan?
Yes. FullstoryFree is a permanent plan with no card needed, with 30,000 sessions a month, 12 months of retention and up to 10 users. Dashboards and StoryAI sit on paid plans, according to the plans page.
Does Fullstory publish its prices?
No. Business, Advanced and Enterprise are each reached through a Request pricing and demo flow, and the plans page shows no amounts at the time of checking.
Which alternative is free for unlimited traffic?
Microsoft Clarity states it is a free service forever with no traffic limits. It offers recordings, heatmaps and AI summaries. PostHog has a monthly free allowance instead, including 5,000 recordings.
Which alternatives can be self-hosted?
OpenReplay can be run on your own infrastructure, with most of its code under AGPL v3. LogRocket lists a self-hosted deployment under its Enterprise plan. PostHog offers hosted usage plans on its pricing page and also publishes an MIT-licensed repository.
Can I move my session recordings to another tool?
Not as playable replays by default. Fullstory lists Data Export as a feature, so ask which formats it provides and keep what you need before you cancel. Expect the new tool to start with an empty history.
Is Heap the same company as Fullstory?
No. Heap's own site says it is now part of Contentsquare. Fullstory, Inc. is a Delaware corporation with offices in Atlanta, London, Sydney and Singapore, per its privacy policy and site footer.
