Freshservice alternatives: 11 IT asset management tools compared

Teams look for a Freshservice alternative when asset management is bought as an add-on to a per-agent service desk and the bill grows with both agents and asset units. They move to tools that price by asset or device, to open source software they run themselves, or to specialist discovery and licence platforms with no ticketing attached.

Short answer: The first three alternatives to Freshservice in our IT asset management ranking are EZO AssetSonar, InvGate Asset Management and GLPI. Places 1 to 3 go to challengers, vendors outside the best-known brands in a category, wherever the category has them; the established names follow from place 4 in their ranked order. Choose EZO AssetSonar if you have many agents and a moderate asset count. All 11 alternatives below are ranked products from Best IT Asset Management Software in 2026, and each says where it differs from Freshservice.

Vendors can pay for visibility on this site; it never changes what we say about a product. How that works.

Freshservice

#9 of 12 in our IT asset management ranking

  • Pricing: Per agent per month, published; 100 asset units included, more quoted
  • Established in: United States
  • Built for: Teams buying a service desk and an asset register in one decision
  • Not for: Anyone wanting asset management without a ticket system

Why buyers look past Freshservice

  1. 01

    Two meters on one invoice

Freshservice publishes Starter, Growth and Pro at $19, $49 and $99 per agent per month billed annually, with Enterprise on request. Asset management is metered separately: the pricing page says the Growth package includes 100 Asset Units, that more can be bought, and that Asset Units are sold in packs of 500. A team with many devices and few agents pays mostly on the second meter.

  2. 02

Add-ons sit outside the plan price

Freddy AI Copilot is listed as an add-on at $29 per agent per month, and e-signature credits are sold in packs of 30 for $90 per account. Problem, change, release and workload management only appear from the Pro plan, so a team that needs change control alongside its asset records is quickly on the $99 tier.

  3. 03

The ITAM line is now spread over two products

Device42, whose own site calls it a Freshworks company, is sold as a separate product with its own annual subscription priced on the number of devices. Freshworks also describes Freshservice ITAM as available inside Freshservice or as a standalone offering. A buyer who wants deep discovery has to work out which of these they are really being sold.

What each one does differently

EZO AssetSonar

United States · Per asset per month, published; software licence module extra

Prices by asset, at $0.75 per asset per month billed annually for ITAM and $1.08 for ITSM with ITAM included, and states that the number of agents is unlimited. Advanced software asset management is a separate module. There is no per-agent ladder, but a large estate of small devices raises the bill.

Switch from Freshservice if you have many agents and a moderate asset count.

EZO AssetSonar, #2 of 12 in our IT asset management ranking →

InvGate Asset Management

Argentina · Per IP device per year, published tiers

Counts IP devices (computers, servers, phones, network gear) and gives each one an allowance of 2 non-IP devices such as monitors at no extra cost. A 30-day trial needs no credit card. The asset-management pages we fetched show no price, and the service desk plans on the pricing page are a separate product.

Switch from Freshservice if you want asset records first and a service desk only if you need one.

InvGate Asset Management, #3 of 12 in our IT asset management ranking →

GLPI

France · Open source; paid Network subscription and cloud, published

Free software under GPL-3.0 from the glpi-project repository, with paid GLPI Network cloud from Teclib' at 19 euro per user per month excluding tax, unlimited assets and a 45-day trial. Public cloud availability is stated as 97 percent and support hours follow Paris time. It is the only choice here with an open source helpdesk and CMDB.

Switch from Freshservice if you want to run or audit the code yourself, or pay per user instead of per asset.

GLPI, #6 of 12 in our IT asset management ranking →

Setyl

United Kingdom · From $300 a month, quoted by plan and headcount; trial available

Quotes plans from $300 per month and states that assets and licences are unlimited, so cost does not climb with device count. It is built around hardware and software licence tracking, SaaS spend and audit evidence. The pricing page lists no ticketing, incident or change management.

Switch from Freshservice if your problem is licence spend and audit evidence, not ticket handling.

Setyl, #1 of 12 in our IT asset management ranking →

Snipe-IT

United States · Free open source self-hosted; hosted plans from $39.99 a month with unlimited assets, published

Open source under AGPL-3.0, made by Grokability, Inc. in San Diego. The self-hosted version is free, and hosted plans start at $39.99 a month billed monthly with unlimited users and assets. We saw an asset inventory and API on its pages, not a service desk or CMDB discovery agent, so it replaces the register only.

Switch from Freshservice if you need a plain, cheap inventory and can use another tool for tickets.

Snipe-IT, #4 of 12 in our IT asset management ranking →

Lansweeper

Belgium · Free plan with full detail on 100 assets; paid per asset per year, published tiers

A discovery-first platform whose Free plan scans the whole network without an asset cap but shows full detail on the first 100 licensed assets only. A 14-day trial is documented. Billing rules change on 5 November 2026, when monitors become billable. We could not read its paid price list because the pricing page sits behind a bot check.

Switch from Freshservice if your main gap is knowing what is actually on the network.

Lansweeper, #5 of 12 in our IT asset management ranking →

Timly

Switzerland · From €195 a month, published; add-on modules extra

Swiss vendor, Timly Software AG in Zürich, with Essential+ from 195 euro a month and Professional from 495 euro, both with unlimited users, and Enterprise on request. Ticketing is part of the plans and a 10-day trial is offered. Its pages also cover non-IT equipment, so it is broader than ITAM.

Switch from Freshservice if you track IT and other equipment together and want fixed monthly plans.

Timly, #7 of 12 in our IT asset management ranking →

Asset Panda

United States · Quoted annually by asset count; 7-day trial

Sold on a custom quote based on what you need, with a free 7-day trial of a fully featured account. No price is published. The product is a configurable asset tracker used across public sector, education and healthcare, so it is wider than IT and carries no service desk of the Freshservice kind.

Switch from Freshservice if your assets are not only IT and you are happy to negotiate a quote.

Asset Panda, #8 of 12 in our IT asset management ranking →

USU IT Asset Management

Germany · Quoted per organisation

German vendor with headquarters in Möglingen, aimed at large estates. Its pages describe agent and remote discovery, data quality following ISO 19770, supplier and contract management and software licence compliance. No prices appear on the pages we fetched, so a project and quote come first.

Switch from Freshservice if you run a large estate with licence audits and want a German supplier.

USU IT Asset Management, #10 of 12 in our IT asset management ranking →

Flexera One

United States · Quoted per organisation, multi-year agreements

A platform for licence position, cloud cost and risk rather than a service desk. Its ITAM page describes discovery, hardware asset management and a Technopedia library of software use rights, and it feeds ITSM tools such as ServiceNow. No price is shown, only a demo request.

Switch from Freshservice if licence compliance for Microsoft, Oracle or IBM drives your decision.

Flexera One, #12 of 12 in our IT asset management ranking →

Device42

United States · Quoted per device, annual subscription

The discovery and CMDB product that Device42's own site now labels as a Freshworks company, so it is not an escape from Freshworks. It sells an annual subscription priced on the number of devices, with a downloadable free trial. It maps application dependencies and data centres in more depth than Freshservice ITAM.

Switch from Freshservice if you need dependency mapping and are fine with the same parent company.

04

When Freshservice is still the right choice

Freshservice stays the sensible choice when the same people run the service desk and the asset register and want one login for both. Asset records, contracts and the CMDB sit next to incidents and changes, and the 14-day trial gives unrestricted access to all features, so you can test that before paying. It also fits teams that need Pro-level change and release management and have a modest asset count, where the 100 included Asset Units may be enough.

05

What moving off Freshservice involves

  1. 01

Count assets the way the new vendor counts them

Freshservice meters Asset Units in packs of 500, EZO AssetSonar bills per asset, InvGate counts IP and non-IP devices, Lansweeper counts licensed assets and GLPI charges per user. Export your CMDB, apply each rule, and compare the totals before you sign.

  2. 02

Split the ticket history from the asset history

Several alternatives here are asset tools without a service desk, for example Setyl, Snipe-IT and Timly's inventory focus. If you move only the register, keep incidents and changes where they are, or plan a second migration for the service desk.

  3. 03

    Check the end of term

Freshservice's pricing page says downgrades and cancellations happen at the end of your term. Put the renewal date next to your migration plan, and run the new tool on a trial in parallel until then.

Questions about replacing Freshservice

6 answers
What does Freshservice cost?

The pricing page lists Starter at $19, Growth at $49 and Pro at $99 per agent per month billed annually, with Enterprise on request. A 14-day free trial gives access to all features. Asset management is priced separately in Asset Units.

How are Freshservice asset units counted?

The pricing page defines Asset Units as the licensing metric for IT Asset Management, based on the number and type of assets in the Freshservice CMDB. They are bought in packs of 500, and the Growth package includes 100.

Is Device42 independent of Freshworks?

No. Device42's own website describes it as a Freshworks company and links to an announcement of the acquisition. It is still sold as a separate product with its own device-based annual subscription.

Which alternative has no per-agent pricing?

EZO AssetSonar states unlimited agents and prices per asset. Setyl states unlimited assets and licences from $300 per month. Snipe-IT's hosted plans list unlimited users and assets. GLPI charges per user.

Which alternative can I run on my own server?

GLPI (GPL-3.0) and Snipe-IT (AGPL-3.0) both publish their source code and offer a self-hosted version, with paid hosted plans from their makers. Device42 and USU are sold as commercial products.

Is there a free option?

Lansweeper's Free plan scans the full environment and shows full detail on 100 licensed assets. Snipe-IT's self-hosted version is free. Most others offer trials: InvGate 30 days, GLPI 45 days, Timly 10 days and Asset Panda 7 days.
