Anaplan alternatives: 11 budgeting and planning tools compared
Teams look beyond Anaplan when the platform has outgrown the problem: a quoted contract with no public price, a planning model that needs trained builders, and a vendor positioning that now centres on AI agents and enterprise applications. The alternatives below include European multidimensional engines, spreadsheet-first tools, consolidation specialists and lighter reporting products.
Short answer: The first three alternatives to Anaplan in our budgeting and planning ranking are Jedox, Board and Pigment. Our rule for order: vendors outside the big brands go first, and the largest names are not placed in the top three. Choose Jedox if finance staff already work in Excel and want a multidimensional database under it, from a vendor outside the United States. Below are 11 alternatives, each taken from the Best Budgeting Software in 2026 ranking, with its main difference from Anaplan.
Vendors can pay for more visibility on this website, for example a higher place in a ranking or more room on a page. Commercial relationships can also affect which products we feature and how prominently. Every vendor link is marked the same, whatever the arrangement behind it. How that works.
Built for: Enterprises planning supply chain or sales capacity at scale
Not for: Finance teams that only need a departmental budget
01
Why buyers look past Anaplan
01
No price is published, only a demo form
Anaplan's pricing page contains no plans, figures or capacity tiers, only an invitation to fill in a form so an expert can get in touch. A finance team that wants to compare three vendors on a spreadsheet therefore starts from a sales conversation, and the other tools in this category that publish prices, such as Fathom, are the only ones that can be compared before one is held.
02
The platform reads as an enterprise suite with many applications
Anaplan's own pages describe purpose-built applications for finance, sales and marketing, supply chain, HR and retail, plus role-based AI agents, and cite 2,800+ customers and 250+ partners. That breadth suits a group planning several functions on one model. A finance department that wants departmental budgets and a rolling forecast ends up reading past a lot of scope it did not ask for.
03
Delivery leans on partners and trained modellers
The partners page talks about the PartnerAccelerate programme, badges by function and industry, and discounted training, while Anaplan Academy is aimed at customers. The pattern is a model built by specialists and maintained by them. A mid-sized company without a dedicated planning owner has to buy that skill or hire it, and the cost sits outside any licence line.
payroll and HR already run in Workday and the personnel plan should draw from them directly

Jedox
Germany · On request
Jedox is a German multidimensional planning product whose own site lists an add-in for Excel 365 next to a web interface, and a customer base of more than 2,900 companies. Budgeting, forecasting, consolidation, sales performance and workforce planning run on the same engine. The subscription page is linked rather than priced, so expect a quote and probably a partner for the first model.
Switch from Anaplan if finance staff already work in Excel and want a multidimensional database under it, from a vendor outside the United States.
Board, from Switzerland, joins planning and analytics in one toolkit. Its pages cover finance, consolidation, capital planning, supply chain, retail merchandising and workforce planning, and list Volkswagen, L'Oreal, BASF and Burberry among customers. The pricing page is linked without figures. Somebody has to assemble the applications, so budget for build effort as you would with Anaplan.
Switch from Anaplan if the plan and the reports about it should live in one environment, and operations as well as finance will use it.
Pigment, a French company, sells a cloud platform for finance, supply chain, sales and workforce plans on its Graphite engine, which it says needs no advance sizing of data, users or scenarios. A Modeler Agent builds models from plain-language descriptions, and a free trial is offered next to the demo. No price is shown on the home page we read.
Switch from Anaplan if you want modelling that finance can change itself, with sizing no longer a contract discussion.
Lucanet AG covers consolidation, intercompany reconciliation, budgeting, forecasting and headcount planning on a cloud platform hosted on AWS. It states more than 6,500 customers, 300+ ETL adapters and a 99.9% uptime claim, and shows IFRS 18 readiness for 2027. Group reporting is the strength; the planning side hangs off it.
Switch from Anaplan if legal-entity consolidation and tax reporting come first and the budget is built from the same ledgers.
Cube Planning keeps Excel and Google Sheets as working surfaces: actuals sync into a spreadsheet model and edits flow back to a governed data layer. Its site presents AI agents for data, analysis and planning, and a self-serve trial next to a demo. Prices are not listed on the home page, and no setup time is promised there.
Switch from Anaplan if analysts want to keep their spreadsheets while versions and data refresh come under control.
Vena calls itself a Microsoft-native platform, with CubeFLEX as an OLAP database built for Excel. Listed use cases run from budgeting, capex and cash flow to workforce planning, close, consolidation and tax provisioning, with Insights and a PowerPoint add-on as extras. Pricing sits on a separate page not part of the home page, and professional services are a named capability.
Switch from Anaplan if the finance team lives in Excel and PowerPoint and the plan should stay there, backed by workflow and a shared database.
Prophix One links plan, close and consolidation, and the company cites 3,000 customers worldwide. Consolidation ships as prebuilt models for multi-currency, multilingual and multi-GAAP groups, and AI features match intercompany balances and write variance explanations. The page shows an ROI calculator in place of prices.
Switch from Anaplan if budgeting and the statutory close should sit in one product, for a group with several currencies and languages.
Planful puts planning, close, consolidation and reporting on one financial performance platform and says 1,500+ companies use it. Its page emphasises scenarios built from a baseline, entity roll-ups in hours rather than the week after close, and thousands of connectors. A demo is the only call to action, and no prices are given.
Switch from Anaplan if the close calendar matters as much as the budget and one vendor should cover both.
Agicap is a cash and liquidity product with a London address and a claim of 8,000 clients in 12 countries. It centralises flows across banks, accounting software and legal entities, connects more than 300 tools, and adds payments, collections and reconciliation. The trial button and the FAQ differ on trial length, so ask. Profit and loss budgeting is not its centre.
Switch from Anaplan if the live question is cash across entities and banks, and the departmental budget is handled elsewhere.
Fathom publishes its prices: Pro is $450 a month with 25 companies included, then $17 per extra company, and Portfolio starts at $67 a month for 100 companies. A 14-day trial includes everything, there is no minimum term, and it reads Xero, QuickBooks, MYOB, FreeAgent, Excel and Google Sheets. It reports on ledgers rather than modelling a plan.
Switch from Anaplan if you need management reports and a forecast from the accounting ledger at a price you can see, with no modelling project.
Adaptive from Workday, the renamed Workday Adaptive Planning, offers financial, workforce and operational planning and states that 7,000+ teams use it. Capabilities, integrations and AI features are unchanged by the rename. Pulling HR and payroll data into headcount plans is a stated use. A free trial, a demo and a sales contact are offered, with no prices shown.
Switch from Anaplan if payroll and HR already run in Workday and the personnel plan should draw from them directly.
Jedox: Its site lists an add-in for Excel 365 and an Excel-like interface, and more than 2,900 companies use the platform.
02
You want planning and reporting in one environment
Board: Board joins finance, supply chain, retail and workforce planning with analytics, with Volkswagen and BASF among named customers.
03
You want to change the model without an expert
Pigment: A Modeler Agent builds models from plain-language descriptions, and the home page offers a free trial.
04
You consolidate several legal entities
Lucanet: It lists consolidation, intercompany reconciliation and IFRS 18 readiness, with 300+ ETL adapters on an AWS-hosted platform.
05
You need prices before a call
Fathom: Pro is $450 a month with 25 companies and a 14-day trial, while the Anaplan pricing page shows only a demo form.

When Anaplan is still the right choice
Anaplan remains the stronger option when the problem is genuinely larger than a budget: supply chain, sales capacity, retail and workforce plans that must tie into one connected model. Its platform page cites multi-dimensional modelling with sub-second response times, its security page lists SOC 1 and 2 audits aligned with ISO 27001 and 27018, SAML 2.0 single sign-on, encryption at rest and in transit, and a BYOK add-on, and it runs an optimisation engine for constrained decisions. If several functions already plan on the same Anaplan model, moving only finance would break the link the model was built for.
05
What moving off Anaplan involves
01
Inventory models, modules and connected applications
List each model, the applications on it and who builds changes. Many Anaplan estates hold more than finance, and the budget may share lists with supply or sales plans. Decide what moves first and what stays until the last contract date.
02
Export the data and write down the logic
Hand over actuals, history, versions and the list structure, and document the calculation rules in plain language, because the formulas are written in Anaplan's own modelling approach and will need to be rebuilt, not converted. Ask your partner what they will hand over and in which format.
03
Run both plans for one cycle
Build the new budget in the chosen tool, reconcile it against Anaplan for one close or one forecast round, and sign off only when the variances are explained. Keep the old workspace until that cycle is done.

Questions about replacing Anaplan
7 answers
What is the best alternative to Anaplan for budgeting?
Jedox leads our list of Anaplan alternatives for budgeting: a German multidimensional engine with an Excel 365 add-in and more than 2,900 customers.
Board and Pigment follow. Which fits depends on whether your team works in Excel, wants a single planning and analytics toolkit, or prefers a newer cloud engine.
Which Anaplan alternative has the lowest price?
Fathom is the only one in this group that publishes prices: $450 a month for 25 companies on Pro, with extra companies at $17, and a 14-day free trial.
It builds reports and forecasts from a ledger, so it does not replace a departmental budget workflow. The others are quoted.
Does Anaplan publish its pricing?
The Anaplan pricing page we read lists no plans or figures. It offers a demo request and says an expert will get in touch.
Our category notes say pricing depends on workspace capacity and users, which we could not confirm on the vendor pages we read.
Is there a European alternative to Anaplan?
Yes. Jedox (Germany), Board (Switzerland), Pigment (France), Lucanet (Germany) and Agicap (France) are listed in our category as European vendors. Jedox, Board and Pigment cover full planning; Lucanet starts from consolidation and Agicap from cash.
Which alternative suits a team that wants to stay in Excel?
Vena describes itself as Microsoft-native and builds its database for Excel.
Jedox lists an add-in for Excel 365, and Cube keeps Excel and Google Sheets as front ends to a governed data layer. Each asks for a quote, so ask what the spreadsheet can and cannot change.
Which alternative handles consolidation as well as budgeting?
Lucanet and Prophix both lead with consolidation. Lucanet cites 300+ ETL adapters and IFRS 18 readiness; Prophix cites prebuilt multi-currency, multilingual and multi-GAAP models. Planful and Vena also list consolidation and close next to planning.
Which Anaplan alternative works if we use Workday?
Adaptive from Workday is the direct fit, with workforce planning and HR and payroll data as a stated use. Check the integration details with Workday, because the page we read does not describe them. Pigment and Jedox also list workforce planning.
