Carta alternatives: 11 cap table management tools compared
Founders and finance leads look for a Carta alternative when a cap table needs a published price, when most shareholders and option holders sit outside the US, or when they want a tool that stops at equity records. They move to a free-tier cap table, to a European or UK specialist, or to a bank-run equity plan administrator.
Short answer: The closest replacements for Carta in our cap table management ranking are Ledgy, Cake Equity and Eqvista. Choose Ledgy if you have shareholders and employees across several countries and want a published price ladder. All 11 alternatives below are ranked products from Best Cap Table Management Software in 2026, and each says where it differs from Carta.

Built for: US companies raising from investors who expect to see Carta
Not for: Buyers who prioritise independence and predictable renewal pricing
01
Why buyers look past Carta
01
A platform much broader than a cap table
Carta's support hub covers equity issuance and valuations, employee options, fund administration, LLC management, LP portfolio analytics and a CRM. That range suits companies and funds that want everything under one login. A startup that only needs a shareholder register and an option ledger is buying into a larger product family.
02
No price we could check
We could not retrieve Carta's pricing page (the site refused automated access), and its support hub states no prices. Rivals in this category publish theirs: Ledgy's Launch plan is free up to 50 stakeholders, Cake Equity's free plan covers 5, and Eqvista's covers fewer than 20. Ask Carta for a written quote before comparing.
03
US-built tooling for non-US shareholders
Several alternatives are built around other jurisdictions: Vestd and SeedLegals around UK schemes such as EMI, Ledgy around multi-country compliance reporting, and Allshares around cross-border equity. Companies with employees in several countries often start the comparison with local scheme support.

Switch from Carta if you are a small company wanting a free start and an annual price by headcount.
United States · Free under 20 stakeholders; Premium $2 per stakeholder a month; 409A bundles from $990 a year, published
Freemium is $0 for fewer than 20 stakeholders, Premium is $2 per stakeholder a month, and 409A bundles with the premium cap table start at $990 a year by funding stage. Features include vesting, a data room, e-signing and Form 3921. Its site did not state a company location.
Switch from Carta if you want per-stakeholder pricing and a valuation bundled with the cap table.
United States · Free Launch plan up to 25 stakeholders; Startup, Growth and Scale quoted
Backed by Fidelity. The Launch plan is free for up to 25 stakeholders with less than $1M raised, and Startup, Growth and Scale add support, 409A valuations, ASC 718 reporting and HRIS links. Startup and Growth prices are not listed and Scale is quoted. It also sells Delaware C-corporation incorporation for $400.
Switch from Carta if you are a US startup that wants a free starter plan and a large financial brand behind it.
United Kingdom · Monthly plans by support level and scheme members, 12-month minimum, published; Essentials from £25, EMI from £420 a month
UK-focused: Essentials from GBP 25 a month, Starter from GBP 220, Guided Service from GBP 420, and Enterprise quoted. Guided covers EMI, CSOP, growth shares and unapproved options, with HMRC valuations unlimited from that tier. All plans carry a 12-month minimum term. It is narrower than Carta outside the UK.
Switch from Carta if your option scheme is UK-based and you want EMI or growth shares handled by specialists.
United Kingdom · Annual plans by activity, published
A UK platform that sells cap table management together with legal documents: Access is GBP 649 a year, Funding GBP 1,199 and Options GBP 2,699, plus VAT. Fundraising paperwork, SEIS/EIS and share issues are separately priced services. Its scope is UK-centred, with international structures at adjusted prices.
Switch from Carta if you want the cap table and the legal paperwork for UK rounds from one provider.

Switch from Carta if you are preparing for or already in public-company reporting.
Australia · Quoted, registry and plan fees separate
Australia-based registry and plan administrator whose EquatePlus platform serves large employers, with 5.25 million plan participants in 170 countries by its own count. It also provides transfer agent and registry services. No price is published and the page did not address private-company cap tables.
Switch from Carta if you are a large or listed company needing registry and employee share plan services together.
United States · Per company per year by stakeholder count, published; Startup $1,200 a year
Not a long-term option: Pulley's site states it will shut down and cease all services on 12/8/26, and that it has an exclusive partnership with Carta for migrating pre-IPO customers. Its pricing page still lists Startup at $1,200 a year and Growth at $3,500. We list it for completeness only.
Switch from Carta if you are already a Pulley customer and are choosing where to migrate before it closes.
Carta remains the right choice when you want cap table, 409A valuations, employee equity and, for investors, fund administration in one US-centred system, and when your investors, auditors or banks already expect Carta records. Pulley's site also points its own customers to Carta. Moving mid-round or mid-audit adds risk that a cheaper tool may not repay.

What moving off Carta involves
01
Exporting a clean cap table and grant history
Request a full export of the ledger, option grants, vesting schedules, exercises and issued certificates, and reconcile it against your signed documents before trusting any import. Errors in the old system carry over silently into the new one.
02
Investor, board and auditor access
Investors and auditors may read your equity records in Carta today. Tell them the new location and agree who holds the authoritative record during the transition, and keep the old read-only copy for audit evidence.
03
Valuations and tax filings
If 409A valuations, Form 3921 or Rule 701 reporting run through Carta, check that the new tool provides them (Cake Equity, Eqvista and Fidelity Private Shares name valuations, Ledgy names valuations in its Scale plan) and when your current valuation expires.

Questions about replacing Carta
5 answers
Is there a free alternative to Carta?
Yes, with limits. Ledgy Launch is free up to 50 stakeholders, Fidelity Private Shares Launch is free for up to 25 stakeholders with less than $1M raised, Cake Equity is free for 5, and Eqvista is free under 20.
Each free plan has a stakeholder cap and fewer features than the paid tiers.
Which Carta alternative is best for UK companies?
Vestd and SeedLegals are built around UK schemes and paperwork. Vestd focuses on EMI, CSOP and growth shares with a 12-month minimum term, while SeedLegals bundles legal documents and funding services with the cap table. Ledgy and Cake Equity also support UK companies.
Which Carta alternative is based in Europe?
Ledgy is headquartered in Zurich, Allshares in Stockholm, Global Shares (J.P. Morgan Workplace Solutions) in Cork and Vestd and SeedLegals in the UK. The page also lists US vendors, so country of establishment is a choice for you to make, not a requirement.
What happens to Pulley customers?
Pulley's site says it will close on 12/8/26 and that it has entered an exclusive partnership with Carta, with a limited-time offer and assisted migration for existing customers. Customers can instead move to any other tool on this page; export your records early.
Do I need a 409A valuation from my cap table tool?
That is a question for your tax adviser. Pulley, Cake Equity, Eqvista and Fidelity Private Shares offer 409A valuation services, bundled or separate, and Ledgy offers valuations in its Scale plan. Check whether you need one before paying for a bundle.
