Check Point Quantum Firewalls alternatives: 13 network firewalls tools compared
Buyers start looking at Check Point alternatives when a quote can only be had through a reseller, when the catalogue of Quantum, Spark and Maestro families is more than one site needs, or when management is quoted as its own line. They move to another full-stack vendor, to a vendor with published prices, or to an open-source firewall they can run themselves.
Short answer: Where a category has smaller vendors worth recommending, they occupy the first three places and the big brands come below them. For Check Point Quantum Firewalls users, the top three picks from our network firewalls ranking are Fortinet FortiGate, Palo Alto Networks NGFW and Sophos Firewall (XGS). Pick Fortinet FortiGate if you want the same OS from branch box to data centre and a bundle choice for services. These 13 products are all in Best Network Firewalls in 2026; the notes say how each one compares with Check Point Quantum Firewalls.
Visibility on this site can be bought by vendors; what we say about the product cannot. The disclosure page explains.

01
Why buyers look past Check Point Quantum Firewalls
01
Sold only through partners, with no price list
Check Point's own homepage says it is 100% channel, and each firewall page ends at a demo or contact route with no amounts. A buyer cannot draft a budget before a reseller conversation. Netgate, Ubiquiti and OPNsense show prices in public, which is why they appear on the shortlist of small buyers.
02
A catalogue organised by buyer type
The firewall pages split into Quantum Force for branches, perimeters, data centres and industrial sites, Spark 2500 for small sites, Maestro clustering and a DDoS Protector. Spark alone runs from model 2530 to 2590 at 750 to 5,500 Mbps threat prevention. Matching a site to a family is the first job of any quote.
03
Management and services as extra lines
Security management is listed as its own product group, with management appliances and a cloud version, and threat services sit on top of the gateway. A firewall quote therefore has gateway, management and subscription lines. Fortinet, Palo Alto and WatchGuard also split services out, while Netgate and Ubiquiti state they do not charge for features.

Fortinet FortiGate
United States · On request
Fortinet runs one operating system, FortiOS, on its own security processors across hardware, virtual, cloud and hosted FortiGate-as-a-Service, where Check Point splits Quantum, Spark and Maestro into separate families. The firewall page prints no price either. FortiGuard services come in ENT, UTP and ATP bundles.
Switch from Check Point Quantum Firewalls if you want the same OS from branch box to data centre and a bundle choice for services.
Policy is written around applications (App-ID) and users, with PAN-OS shared by PA-Series hardware and software firewalls. Panorama or Strata Cloud Manager handles management. The Advanced threat, URL, WildFire and DNS subscriptions are separate line items, and the page ends in a contact form with no amounts.
Switch from Check Point Quantum Firewalls if you rebuild policy around applications rather than ports and can pay for several subscriptions.
A UK-registered vendor with XGS appliances from the desktop XGS 88 to the 2U XGS 8500, plus SD-RED remote units. Its hardware page shows neither prices nor virtual editions. Desktop models cover branches and the 2U range covers campus edges.
Switch from Check Point Quantum Firewalls if you run Sophos endpoint already and mainly need branch and mid-size boxes.
Firebox comes as T Series tabletop, M Series rackmount, FireboxV and Firebox Cloud for AWS and Azure, with security suites sold as bundles. An appliance sizing tool narrows the model before a quote. First purchases go through resellers because the online store handles renewals only.
Switch from Check Point Quantum Firewalls if a reseller or MSP will buy and run the firewall for a small or mid-size estate.
SonicWall adds an operated service: its SonicSentry team monitors and tunes Generation 7 or newer firewalls in the Managed Protection Security Suite, and qualifying deployments carry a Cysurance cyber warranty. Models run from micro-SMB to data centre, with a unified console for MSPs. No prices are listed.
Switch from Check Point Quantum Firewalls if you want the vendor to operate the firewall and you have many small sites.
Cisco's Secure Firewall list runs from the 200 Series for small branches to the 6100 Series, with the ISA3000 for industrial sites and virtual versions for public cloud, private cloud and containers. Management is an on-premises Firewall Management Center or a Cisco cloud console. Licence terms and prices are not on the page.
Switch from Check Point Quantum Firewalls if switches, routers and wireless in your estate are Cisco and you want one support route.
CloudGen puts SD-WAN inside the firewall and deploys to Azure, AWS and Google Cloud as well as to sites, with Firewall Control Center on top. A cloud-hosted sandbox is part of Advanced Threat Protection. A Try Free link and configurator replace a price list.
Switch from Check Point Quantum Firewalls if several sites and cloud networks need to be joined and secured by one product.
Forcepoint's Secure Management Console unifies policy, incident response and reporting for physical and virtual appliances, with load-balancing clusters and multi-ISP routing. Its page quotes a customer whose partner converted a whole policy set in a day.
Switch from Check Point Quantum Firewalls if central policy for many remote sites matters more than a large model catalogue.
Juniper's SRX web addresses now redirect to the HPE store since HPE completed its Juniper purchase on 2 July 2025. We could not read current model or licence details, so what separates it from Check Point on features is unverified. The contracting vendor has changed.
Switch from Check Point Quantum Firewalls if you already use Juniper routing or Mist wireless and now buy through HPE.
A French firewall maker owned by Airbus Defence and Space Cyber Programmes, whose SNS firmware has ANSSI EAL4+ certification and Standard-level qualification, plus Spanish CCN approvals. It targets both IT and OT networks. Prices are given only through sales.
Switch from Check Point Quantum Firewalls if a French or Spanish public-sector rule asks for nationally certified firewalls.
pfSense Plus is included with Netgate appliances, which start at USD 189, and is also sold on AWS and Azure at USD 0.08 to 0.40 an hour. Netgate states no throughput or seat charges apply. It is a firewall, router and VPN with a single software price.
Switch from Check Point Quantum Firewalls if you want published pricing and software that also runs on your own hardware.
Open-source firewall on FreeBSD under a two-clause BSD licence, made by a Dutch company, with official DEC appliances built in Europe. The Business Edition is EUR 399 for three years in the shop. Support is bought separately, through the Business Edition or support packages.
Switch from Check Point Quantum Firewalls if you want an auditable code base and a Dutch or EU supplier.
UniFi gateways cost USD 129 to USD 3,499 in the store and include IDS/IPS, zone-based firewalling and Site Magic VPN with no licence. They manage next to UniFi switches and access points. The pages read do not describe clustering, SSL decryption policy or certified builds.
Switch from Check Point Quantum Firewalls if a small office or retail chain already runs UniFi and wants to stop paying subscriptions.
When Check Point Quantum Firewalls is still the right choice
Check Point stays the right answer when you run several sites or a data centre and want clustering, central policy and a reseller who operates it. Maestro scales to 1,000 Gbps with automatic load balancing, and Spark gives small branches the same vendor through a multi-tenant cloud console. If your reseller relationship is working and the quote is already in hand, the lighter vendors save little and add a migration.

What moving off Check Point Quantum Firewalls involves
01
Rules do not move by themselves
Each vendor models objects, zones and applications differently, and none of the pages we read promise an import of another vendor's policy. Forcepoint quotes a customer whose partner converted a policy set in one day, but that was partner work. Plan to rebuild rules and test them site by site.
02
Subscriptions follow the hardware
Fortinet sells ENT, UTP and ATP bundles, Palo Alto sells Advanced threat, URL, WildFire and DNS subscriptions, and SonicWall sells licensing suites. Netgate says its software is included with appliances, and Ubiquiti lists advanced security without a licence. Compare renewals over three years, not the box price.
03
Administrators need retraining
Check Point runs its own training and certification programme, Palo Alto offers a Certified Next-Generation Firewall Engineer exam, and Fortinet lists free training and labs. Whoever administers the firewall carries a new vendor's skills into the switch, so the cost of the move includes their time.

Questions about replacing Check Point Quantum Firewalls
6 answers
Does Check Point publish prices?
No. The firewall pages we read end at a demo or contact route, and the homepage describes the company as 100% channel. Palo Alto, Cisco, Sophos and Fortinet are in the same position on their firewall pages.
Which alternatives publish prices?
Netgate lists appliances from USD 189 and cloud images at USD 0.08 to 0.40 an hour. Ubiquiti lists gateways from USD 129 to USD 3,499. OPNsense lists a Business Edition licence at EUR 399 for three years in its shop. The others quote on request.
Are there European alternatives?
Yes. Stormshield is French and owned by Airbus Defence and Space Cyber Programmes, OPNsense is made by a Dutch company, and Sophos is registered in England. Check Point itself is headquartered in Tel Aviv, Israel.
Is there an open-source option?
OPNsense is open source under a two-clause BSD licence. Netgate builds pfSense and sells pfSense Plus, and its pricing page refers to a pfSense CE image for third-party hardware.
Has any of these vendors changed owner recently?
Juniper has. HPE closed its acquisition on 2 July 2025, and Juniper's SRX web addresses now redirect to the HPE store. Stormshield is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Airbus Defence and Space Cyber Programmes.
Can small offices use these products?
Check Point has the Spark 2500 for small sites. Among the alternatives, Ubiquiti, Netgate, WatchGuard, SonicWall and Sophos list desktop-class units, while Cisco's 6100 Series and the PA-7500 are data-centre products.
