Payoneer vs Remitly
Payoneer and Remitly look alike only because both move money across borders. Payoneer is a platform for sellers, agencies and companies that receive payments from abroad and pay contractors, with fees that vary by payment type and corridor. Remitly is a consumer-style sender with one stated flat fee of 2.99 EUR on euro to US dollar transfers and a free first transfer. The pages we read cover no business accounts, APIs or batch payments for Remitly, while Payoneer lists batches of up to 1,000.
Vendors can pay for more visibility on this website, for example a higher place in a ranking or more room on a page. Commercial relationships can also affect which products we feature and how prominently. Every vendor link is marked the same, whatever the arrangement behind it. How that works.
you invoice clients or marketplaces abroad, pay several contractors in different countries, and accept that each fee depends on the payment type and corridor. You can also keep 6,000 USD a year flowing in, so the annual fee never applies.
you send money to family or a single recipient now and then and want one stated fee instead of a table of percentages. You would also use the fee-free first transfer that new customers get under the limited-time offer.

A 2.99 EUR sticker against a table of percentages
Payoneer's pricing page ties each fee to payment type, method, currency and corridor: 1% (minimum 1.00 USD) to receive in a non-local currency, 1.50 USD for a same-country withdrawal, and 1.2% to 4% on transfers. Remitly states that every euro to US dollar transfer costs 2.99 EUR. One number is simpler to plan around, although the Remitly calculator we read shows no exchange rate, so the full cost stays unclear until you request a quote.

Receiving money from clients and marketplaces
Payoneer lists receiving accounts in 70+ currencies, payment links and checkout, and stablecoin receipts. Receiving a payment into a local-currency account is free on its pricing page. Remitly describes the opposite direction: delivery to a bank account, a mobile wallet or a cash pickup location. Nothing on the Remitly pages we read lets a business collect from its own customers, so anyone invoicing abroad belongs on the Payoneer side.

Paying a roster of contractors
Payoneer's homepage names batch payments of up to 1,000, mass payouts, and a Contractor Management System, with workforce products stated for workers in 160+ countries. It also lists Employer of Record and Agent of Record services. Remitly names a Business product and Large Money Transfer, yet the pages we read do not describe bulk or contractor payouts. For a team spread across countries, the documented tooling sits with Payoneer.

The annual fee and the free first send
Payoneer says opening an account typically carries no monthly subscription, but a 29.95 USD annual fee applies if the account receives less than 6,000 USD in any 12 consecutive months. Remitly has no free plan; new customers get no fees on the first transfer, one per customer, as a limited-time offer with eligibility restrictions. A low-volume user pays Payoneer's yearly fee, while a one-off sender may pay nothing at Remitly.
Depends on the buyer

Which legal entity you actually deal with
Remitly Europe Limited is registered in Ireland (company number 629909) with a registered address in Cork, and the pricing page says the Central Bank of Ireland regulates it. The parent, Remitly, Inc., sits in Seattle. Payoneer names entities in the US, Ireland and Australia but gives no registered offices, regulators or company numbers, and no headquarters country. Remitly is the clearer of the two on who stands behind a transfer.

Cards, credit and other products on the side
Payoneer lists corporate cards, expense management, Smart FX and a Working Capital Advance, with the last two subject to eligibility, and its Business Premium Debit Mastercard is issued from Ireland by Payoneer Europe Limited. Remitly names a Remitly Card and, in select countries, digital dollars (USDC) with a debit card. For a company that wants spend control next to payouts, Payoneer lists more.
Edge: Payoneer
When neither fits
If you want a multi-currency business account for supplier payments rather than a marketplace payout platform or a personal sender, look at Wise or Ebury. Both sit in the same category and suit a company that pays invoices abroad more than it collects from marketplaces.
Payoneer or Remitly: questions
3 answersWill Payoneer bill me every month just for holding an account?
The pricing page says opening an account typically has no monthly subscription fee. A 29.95 USD annual fee applies only if the account receives less than 6,000 USD in any 12 consecutive months. Businesses processing over 50K USD a month are told custom pricing applies.
Is Remitly's Business product a substitute for a contractor payout tool?
Remitly's homepage names a Remitly Business product and Large Money Transfer. The pages we read do not describe batch payments, APIs or contractor management for it. Payoneer, by contrast, lists batches of up to 1,000 payments and a Contractor Management System.
What do I pay Remitly to send euros to a US dollar account?
The pricing page we read states a flat 2.99 EUR for every euro to US dollar transfer. The rate calculator on it shows no exchange rate figure, so the full cost depends on the quote you get.
New customers can send their first transfer without fees, once, under a limited-time offer.
