Bunny CDN vs Cloudflare

Bunny CDN charges per gigabyte by region with a $1 monthly minimum and no request fees, and it is run from Slovenia. Cloudflare sells fixed plans from free to a contract and bundles DNS and DDoS protection, but it asks Free and Pro customers to move their DNS to Cloudflare. One is a pure delivery meter, the other a plan with a bundle around it. Which one is cheaper depends on how much you send and where your visitors are.

Vendors can pay for more visibility on this website, for example a higher place in a ranking or more room on a page. Commercial relationships can also affect which products we feature and how prominently. Every vendor link is marked the same, whatever the arrangement behind it. How that works.

Where they differ

Bunny CDN 1 · Cloudflare 2 · open 2
  1. 01

    Pricing model

Bunny's Standard Network costs $0.01 per GB in Europe and North America, with a $1 monthly minimum, all features included and no request fees. Cloudflare charges $0, $20 or $200 per month (Pro and Business billed annually) for a plan. Bunny scales with traffic, Cloudflare with the plan tier.

    Depends on the buyer

  2. 02

    Regions outside the home markets

Bunny lists $0.03 per GB for Asia and Oceania, $0.045 for South America and $0.06 for the Middle East and Africa. That is three to six times the Europe and North America rate. Because Cloudflare lists no charge by region on its plans page, a mostly Asian audience can be cheaper on a flat plan.

    Edge: Cloudflare

  3. 03

    Protection and extras included

On Cloudflare every plan, Free included, comes with CDN, Universal SSL, DNS and unmetered DDoS protection. Bunny's pricing page says all features are included in the rate, and sells enterprise support separately with a dedicated account manager and a private Slack channel. We read no DDoS statement on the Bunny pricing page, so Cloudflare is the one with it written down.

  4. 04

Network size and the cheap tier

Bunny's Standard Network has 119 points of presence. Its lowest rate, from $0.005 per GB for the first 500 TB, is on the Volume Network with only 10. A low rate there buys fewer locations. Cloudflare's pages we read give no location count to compare.

    Depends on the buyer

  5. 05

Starting out and protecting your budget

Bunny's trial lasts 14 days and asks for no credit card, and lets you set monthly bandwidth limits so a spike cannot overspend. Cloudflare's Free plan costs nothing but requires a primary DNS setup, and its terms restrict video and big files unless you pay for services. For a download site, Bunny's spending cap and absence of a video clause on its pricing page are easier to live with.

03

When neither fits

If you need a contractual uptime guarantee and a sales team, look at Amazon CloudFront, which lists an uptime SLA from its Business plan, or Cloudflare, which lists one from Business. CDN77 is another metered option to price.
