We are making preparations for the annual Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity (18-25 June), with another round-up of major names in advertising, media and marketing set to lead the charge. The festival is the home of great ideas and is the world’s only truly global meeting place for those passionate about creativity in communications.
More than 15,000 registered delegates from across the advertising and creative industries, coming from over 90 countries, including more than 3,000 from the UK alone, descend on the French Riviera town to celebrate the best of creativity across the whole media mix, discuss industry issues and network with one another.
This year at the festival, 12ahead.com is on a mission to bring you the very best in emerging trends and new thinking. The Cannes Lions 2016 has completed the announcements of this year’s jurors by naming those who will be a part of the remaining juries at Cannes Lions.
A total of 387 people from 40 countries have been confirmed across all of the Cannes Lions juries. Notably, 40% of jurors are women, a significant increase on last year’s 31.5% and a record number for the Festival. The juries will meet in Cannes to judge live throughout the Festival, with the winners of the Lions being announced and honoured at awards ceremonies taking place across the eight days.
We’re delighted to announce that we are going to report exclusively on the most interesting sessions and deliver some top name interviews. The Innovation and Entertainment sessions during the main week will provide delegates a chance to experience at first-hand key technological trends, such as wearables, frictionless ecommerce, virtual reality and further innovation exploratory talks with experts in the field.
Lions Innovation will also aim to introduce start-ups through Rodney Williams, CEO of LISNR and André Ferraz, CEO, In Loco Media and Kamakshi Sivaramakrishnan, CEO of Drawbridge. The best part will be the experience provided that makes it possible for audiences who will be invited to join live experiments and demonstrations.
Among some of the many advertising agencies, PHD Worldwide, part of Omnicom Media Group, joins this year’s lineup of speakers at the Cannes Lions festival of International Creativity and continues its focus on emerging technology through a collaboration with Wired co-founder Kevin Kelly.
Kelly, a leading technology thinker and writer, will join PHD’s worldwide strategy director, Mark Holden, to explore the 12 “inevitable” technological forces that will completely revolutionize the way we buy, work, learn, and communicate with each other. The session, ‘Predestination – Where we are all heading’, will take place at 13.00, Wednesday 22nd June on the Lumiere stage.
By understanding and embracing them, says Kelly, it will be easier for us to remain on top of the coming wave of changes and to arrange our day-to-day relationships with technology in ways that will bring maximum benefits.
